Odes To Our Allies
Was there a special person in your life who didn't share your disability but still shared your struggle? Someone who was with you through thick and thin? Someone who helped you, who stood out and was there for you in the way you needed? We are looking for positive poetry about TRUE allies. aka the people who were really there for you how you needed them--not just the people who wanted you to be like they expected you to be.
What My Label Did
Was there a specific time in your life when your label affected something, positive or negative? A time when just the words associated with you determined the way someone else treated you, whether or not you got something you needed, a specific outcome of a situation? Does the label have any special significance positive or negative to you?
Tales From The Classroom
Were there any experiences in the public eduation system that stood out to you because of a disability or label? Did you have trouble either with other students or with the teachers? Did you find something helpful, something hurtful, or have a unique experience?
